The Challenge:
Create a video that can be shown to all store associates that stresses the importance of the shopper experience and how store cleanliness plays an important factor. Encourage store associates to see the store as a shopper would.
The Process:
Big Lots wanted to present the information in an entertaining way to engage the associate viewers. They wanted to bring a little "hollywood" to the presentation so they chose to parody the Mission Impossible television show and movies and create "Mission:Possible". The video centers around "Kevin", a store associate who is sent undercover to check out a store and report back. Working from Big Lots' script, Magic Box created a visual treatment to identify violations in the store and reinforce the correct procedures. The shoot took place over 3 nights while the store was closed.
The Result:
Associates loved the blockbuster movie treatment that made the video both educational and entertaining. Mission Possible took the gold award in the corporate video competition sponsored by the League of American Communications Professionals. It was also voted most inspirational. Mission Possible 2 is already in the works.
