Grange Insurance
The Challenge:
Advertising agency Burkholder Flint Associates in Columbus, Ohio is asked each year to create a theme for the annual agent meeting "road show", a presentation given to independent insurance agents in a number of cities in the regions where Grange insurance is sold. The theme and it's accompanying video segments are meant to provide entertainment and humor to the meeting.
The Process:
The creative team at Burkholder Flint got together with us early in the process to decide which concepts would have the most impact and comic potential and could be executed on deadline and on budget. Magic Box created demos to help illustrate each concept and its execution. Previous themes have included Grange's own TV network parody, "GTV" (so popular with agents we created a "second season" the following year) and an interactive website theme. Once the specific concept was chosen, we worked on developing videos to introduce each speaker and support their presentations. Key executives including the CEO appear in each video. Due to the busy schedules of the executives, we only had 1 or 2 days to shoot with them. Part of the solution was to shoot the execs on green screen and then create their world in post production. As many as 18 separate video segments were created for each year's presentations.
The Result:
Agents have responded very well to the themes for the agent meetings. They like knowing that even though Grange is serious about their business, they also have a sense of humor. We have been told that some people from the independent agencies actually fight over who gets to attend the meeting and one agent told us that compared to the Grange meeting, other large insurance company presentations were "like being read to from the dictionary."
